Arnold was first admitted as an in patient in 2015, when he had broken the Tuba Ischii.
He made a great recovery going back into full work, (competing at Novice dressage and jumping up to 90cm). When a horse has broken the Tuba Ischii, it leaves them with a slight gait abnormality due to the change in where the semi membranous muscle attaches. It was minor in Arnold, where judges didn’t pick up the difference in his right hind movement.
Unfortunately Arnold aggravated the injury in 2017 , and that is when his owner decided to retire him back to his breeder. I sent him with a letter, as I was convinced he would get back to where I had rehabilitated him to in 2015. The email I received last month from the breeder filled me with joy:
‘’I wanted to give you an update on Arnold. I did all the rehab you recommended and worked with my vets as well.
Fantastic story, Arnold is now competing at BD elementary with scores near on 70%, he came 4th at the Regionals with close to 67% and is just about to set hoof into mediums, he has done hunt rides and takes my small child out ride and lead!
He is now totally sound, he has the slightest asymmetry looking at him from behind but you really would not notice unless you knew!!!!
I can’t tell you how much we love him, added your notes and a fun Christmas dressage photo!!!!’’
Stories like that make me love my job!
