Gaby has been a professional full time equine veterinary physiotherapist for over 30 years. She has a proven track record in the field of equine physiotherapy, rehabilitation and performance enhancement.

She assisted in creating the Veterinary Physiotherapy course for CEPT, which founded the Institute of Registered Veterinary and Animal Physiotherapists (IRVAP), of which she is a Fellow.  She has competed up to Intermediate British Eventing; British Dressage; and County-level Showing.

Gaby now runs Smallwood Centre of Excellence that offers both in-patient programs and regular out-patient clinics. She specialises in assisting veterinary surgeons to diagnose subtle performance issues in high end competition horses as well as leisure horses with behavioural issues and problems. Problems such as proximal suspensory lesions, back problems – kissing spines, facet joint and sacroiliac abnormalities, tendon injuries, wounds and splints.

Gaby is committed to the provision of focused physiotherapy treatments alongside careful work programs to achieve quality tissue repair. Her unique approach, high success rate and professional attitude have earned her the respect of the veterinary surgeons she supports and she now accepts nationwide referrals.

Therapies & Treatments

Gaby’s Veterinary Physiotherapy Centre including the in-patient facility and treatment modalities was created to deliver optimal results, not only in bringing injured horses back to full fitness, but to reduce injury level in the high performance horse. Gaby is passionate about the prevention of injury and the enhancement of athletic ability of all horse breeds and types.

Gaby offers a wide range of therapies and treatments at the Smallwood Centre of Excellence, including INDIBA, long wave ultrasound, PEMF and laser therapy.  Follow the link below for more details.
